U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, fell 0.21 percent to 97.434 at 3 p.m. (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro rose to 1.1811 dollars from 1.1783 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound climbed to 1.3684 dollars from 1.3651 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 155.77 Japanese yen, higher than 155.71 Japanese yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar was down to 0.7756 Swiss francs from 0.7809 Swiss francs, and it decreased to 1.3644 Canadian dollars from 1.3698 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar slipped to 8.9154 Swedish kronor from 8.9780 Swedish kronor.
