Ukraine's foreign reserves rise to record 57.29 bln USD

KIEV, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine's international reserves increased by 30.8 percent last year to reach a record 57.29 billion U.S. dollars as of Jan. 1, the National Bank of Ukraine said Wednesday.

"This is the highest figure in the history of independent Ukraine," the bank said in a statement.

Last year, the country received the largest amount of international financial assistance since the beginning of the Ukraine crisis, totaling 52.4 billion dollars, the statement read, noting that the European Union, the World Bank and Canada were the largest sources of assistance.

In addition, Ukraine received over 3.3 billion dollars in 2025 from the placement of foreign-currency government bonds.

The current level of reserves is sufficient to cover 5.9 months of future imports, according to the central bank.

In 2026, Ukraine expects to receive over 45 billion dollars in financial support from international partners, the statement added.
