NEW YORK, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended lower on Tuesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 125.55 points, or 0.27 percent, to 45,757.9. The S&P 500 sank 8.52 points, or 0.13 percent, to 6,606.76. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 14.79 points, or 0.07 percent, to 22,333.96.
Six of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in red, with utilities and real estate leading the laggards by losing 1.81 percent and 0.66 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, energy and consumer discretionary led the gainers by adding 1.73 percent and 0.82 percent, respectively.
