China's Hualong One leads in global nuclear power deployment

SHENZHEN, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- China's Hualong One has become the world's most deployed third-generation nuclear reactor technology, with 41 units currently in operation or under construction globally, China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) told press in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen on Friday.

China's Hualong One is fully independent third-generation nuclear technology, and it has obtained European Utility Requirements certification and passed the UK Generic Design Assessment.

The technology has demonstrated an excellent operational performance, with seven units already connected to grids worldwide, CGN said.

Each unit generates over 10 billion kilowatt-hours annually -- enough to power 1 million people in a moderately developed country -- while reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 8.16 million tonnes.
