Asian, Middle Eastern airlines dominate 2025 top 10 rankings

PARIS, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Airlines from Asia and the Middle East topped the 2025 Skytrax World Airline Awards announced Tuesday, with Qatar Airways named the world's best airline in this annual passenger-voted ranking.

Singapore Airlines placed second in the world's best airlines ranking, while Cathay Pacific Airways, based in China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, rose to third, up from fifth in 2024.

China's Hainan Airlines entered the global top 10, up from 12th place last year. It has retained its Five-Star Airline certification for a 14th consecutive year and was named "Best Airline in China." It also earned accolades for best staff service and best business class comfort among Chinese carriers.

"We are truly honored to be recognized as a SKYTRAX Five-Star Airline for the 14th consecutive year," said Chairman of Hainan Airlines Zhu Tao. He emphasized the company's commitment to enhancing the travel experience by integrating traditional Chinese culture with modern innovation.

Headquartered in Southern China's Haikou City, the carrier currently operates 67 international and regional routes across Asia, Europe and North America.

The Skytrax world airline awards, widely regarded as the "Oscars of the aviation industry," are based on passenger surveys evaluating service quality, cabin comfort, and operational performance. This year's results were based on an online survey conducted between September 2024 and May 2025, with responses from travellers representing more than 100 nationalities and covering over 325 airlines worldwide.
