Romania grapples with unseasonal cold snap

BUCHAREST, April 7 (Xinhua) -- Romania is experiencing an unseasonably cold spell this week, with the National Meteorological Administration (ANM) on Monday warning of widespread frost, subzero temperatures, and snowfall in several regions.

Frost and ground freeze are likely across much of the country, particularly during the early morning and nighttime hours, according to meteorologists. Mixed precipitation, including rain, sleet, and snow, is forecast for southern regions, while snow is expected in the north.

In mountainous areas, snow will be more persistent, with accumulations of two to five centimeters. Winds will be moderate to strong, with gusts reaching up to 70 kilometers per hour in some parts of the country, creating blowing snow and intensifying the cold.

In Bucharest, the weather remains unusually cold for April. Highs will reach 7 to 8 degrees Celsius, with lows around zero degrees. The chill is expected to last through April 11, with temperatures gradually climbing later in the week.
