U.S. stocks close higher


NEW YORK, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended higher on Tuesday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 10.26 points, or 0.02 percent, to 44,556.34. The S&P 500 added 14.95 points, or 0.24 percent, to 6,129.58. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased 14.49 points, or 0.07 percent, to 20,041.26.

Eight of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with energy and materials leading the gainers by adding 1.37 percent and 1.23 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, communication services and consumer discretionary led the laggards by going down 1.26 percent and 0.52 percent, respectively.
