ALMATY, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) - A send-off ceremony was held for Kazakhstan's national Alpine ski team as they departed from Almaty to Harbin on Monday to participate in the 2025 Asian Winter Games.

Kazakhstan has produced strong alpine skiers who have competed in various international events, including past Asian Winter Games and the Winter Olympics. The team aims to build on this legacy in Harbin.

"Right now, we are determined to bring home medals," stated head coach, Alexander Kostrov.

"As I see it, I have been preparing for this my entire life. I approach each competition with the goal of achieving strong results for our country," said athlete Ksenia Berezhnaya.

The 9th Asian Winter Games will be held from February 7 to 14, in Harbin, northeast China's Heilongjiang province. Thirty-four countries and regions are expected to participate in the event.
