ISTANBUL, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- VakifBank, one of Türkiye's premier volleyball teams, has bolstered its roster for the upcoming season by signing Yuan Xinyue, a distinguished middle blocker from the Chinese National Team.
VakifBank announced to Xinhua on Thursday that they are thrilled to welcome Yuan, who captained the Chinese National Team at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, and present her with the yellow and black jersey for the new season.
The team's communication department introduced Yuan to local media at a press release, highlighting her impressive achievements.
She has been named the best middle blocker four times in the Chinese League and was also honored as the best middle blocker at VNL 2023, it said. Additionally, Yuan won a gold medal with the Chinese National Team at the Rio 2016 Olympics.
According to VakifBank, Yuan is set to join the new team in Istanbul at the end of August.
