Paris 2024 Olympians elect four new members to IOC Athletes' Commission

PARIS, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Seven-time Olympic gold medalist Allyson Felix was among the four athletes who have been elected to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Athletes' Commission for a term of eight years.

Joining Felix on the IOC Athletes' Commission were Germany's Kim Bui (gymnastics), Australia's Jessica Fox (canoe) and New Zealand's Marcus Daniell (tennis).

The winners from a group of 29 candidates will replace four outgoing athlete members who all were elected at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Between July 18 and August 6, 6,576 athletes, representing a participation rate of 61.96 percent, cast their vote at Athlete365 House in the Olympic Villages in Paris, Chateauroux, Lille and Marseille, and at the Olympic Village in Tahiti and selected football cities, according to the IOC.

"This is the highest participation rate at a Summer Games edition since London 2012," said the IOC.
