Chinese carmaker Chery tops Israel's car sales in Q1


JERUSALEM, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese automaker Chery's models ranked the best-selling in Israel in the first three months of 2026, according to data issued by the Israel Vehicle Importers Association on Friday.

The figures showed that a total of 21,521 cars were sold from the 11 models offered by Chery in Israel, including gasoline, electric, and hybrid versions.

Next on the list is South Korean automaker Hyundai with 9,741 units sold in the period, followed by Japan's Toyota, with 9,345 cars delivered in Israel in the first quarter.

Chinese automakers accounted for the largest share of Israel's imported passenger car sales in the first quarter, delivering 39,127 cars, ahead of South Korean automakers, with 17,828 cars sold, and Japan, 10,630.

A total of 7,700 Chinese-made electric cars were sold in Israel during the three months, accounting for 73.2 percent of all electric cars sold in Israel during the period.
