Tsunami strikes parts of Japan's west coast


TOKYO: A tsunami has struck parts of Japan's west coast after a massive earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.6 hit central Japan on Monday (Jan 1).

The tsunami was around 1m high but a larger wave was expected, public broadcaster NHK reported.
