Ford U.S. sales rise 10.7 pct in May

CHICAGO, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Ford Motor Company announced on Friday that it sold 170,933 vehicles in the United States in May, a 10.7-percent increase from 154,461 sold in May 2022.

To be specific, sales of internal combustion engine vehicles went up 11.1 percent in May, hybrid vehicle sales rose 20.5 percent, while electric vehicle sales dropped 13 percent.

For the year to date, the Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker's vehicle sales in the United States have gone up 8.8 percent.

Ford attributed its strong sales growth to trucks.

The U.S. automaker's truck sales were up 31.6 percent to more than 98,000 units in May. F-Series posted a 42.7-percent year-over-year increase in sales, and sales of the F-150 soared nearly 50 percent.

Sales of the electric F-150 Lightning totaled 1,707 for May.
