NAIROBI, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Mental health disorders like stress and depression have spiked in the sub-Saharan African region, fueled by devastating impacts of the climate crisis on the environment and livelihoods, a campaigner said on Thursday ahead of World Health Day to be marked on Friday.
Rosalid Nkirote, executive director of the Nairobi-based African Coalition of Communities Responsive to Climate Change (ACCRCC), said planetary warming was to blame for mental illnesses, which take a heavier toll on vulnerable communities in the continent.
