Watches and Wonders trade fair kicks off in Geneva

GENEVA, March 27 (Xinhua) -- One of the largest trade fairs for the watch industry kicked off on Monday in Geneva, Switzerland.

With 48 participating brands, Watches and Wonders Geneva 2023 will welcome professionals and the public over the course of seven days.

In his speech at the inauguration of the fair, Jean-Frederic Dufour, chairman of Watches and Wonders Geneva Foundation, emphasized the dynamism and importance of the event for the watchmaking industry.

Meanwhile, Jean-Marc Pontroue, chief executive officer of Italian watch manufacturer Panerai, told Xinhua that the Chinese market is an essential component of Panerai's global strategy.

As one of the largest luxury markets in the world, China has tremendous potential for Panerai, he said.

"We are utilizing the power of celebrity influence to increase brand awareness and drive sales, particularly in China, where the 'fan economy' plays a significant role," Pontroue added.
