WASHINGTON, DC: Acclaimed author Salman Rushdie has been taken off a ventilator and is able to talk as of late Saturday (Aug 13), his agent reportedly told US media.
However, he remains hospitalised with serious injuries after being repeatedly stabbed Friday (Aug 12) at a public appearance in New York state, while police sought to determine the motive behind an attack that drew international condemnation.
