NEW YORK, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Tuesday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased by 0.09 percent to 98.915 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro climbed to 1.1674 U.S. dollars from 1.1663 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound increased to 1.3646 dollars from 1.3631 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 159.22 Japanese yen, higher than 159.19 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar lost to 0.8020 Swiss francs from 0.8026 Swiss francs, and it decreased to 1.3830 Canadian dollars from 1.3850 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar fell to 9.4659 Swedish kronor from 9.4973 Swedish kronor.
