Qatar Airways launches flight to Angola

LUANDA, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- Qatar Airways launched an inaugural flight on Monday from Doha to the Angolan capital of Luanda.

Speaking at Luanda's Quatro de Fevereiro International Airport, Nataniel Domingos, the president of the Executive Committee of the Airport Management Company, highlighted the importance of Qatar Airways' entry into operation in the country, which would help the airline recover.

Qatar Airways reportedly has lost 85 percent of its revenues since the outbreak of COVID-19 early this year.

One flight a week is scheduled for now, on Mondays, with Luanda as Qatar Airways' 21st destination on the African continent.

Angola and Qatar signed six bilateral cooperation agreements across various fields in September 2019, including the establishment of air links between Doha and Luanda.
