HARARE, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Zimbabwe's largest bank, CBZ Holdings on Tuesday shut down seven of its branches and five offices in Harare after 35 of its employees tested positive for COVID-19.
CBZ Group CEO Blessing Mudavanhu said that one of the workers who tested positive for the virus has succumbed to the disease.
"To date, out of over 900 tests conducted, regrettably a total of 35 of our staff members have tested positive for COVID-19," he said.
"One of our staff members sadly passed away on Sunday July 26, 2020, having also tested positive," he said.
"We anticipate opening of these Branches and offices within 48 to 72 hours for continued business thereafter," Mudavanhu said.
Several companies in Zimbabwe have been forced to temporarily close branches or part of their operations after some of their employees tested positive for the virus.
The country is currently experiencing a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases, with 2,702 positive cases having been confirmed.
