A VIRAL post on social media alleged that nearly 500 Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) enforcement officers were not permitted to take action against certain premises, including those operated by foreign nationals.
According to the post, an organisational chart purportedly separating duties appeared to be merely an excuse.

DBKL has taken note of the said social media post, which went viral on Threads, and strongly denies the allegations.
In a statement, it said no instruction has been issued preventing enforcement officers from acting against offences within DBKL’s jurisdiction.
DBKL said it will also lodge a police report over the post to enable the authorities to investigate the matter.
It stated that the division of duties among departments and enforcement officers is intended to ensure that each action is carried out according to the designated functions and laws.
DBKL added that it does not restrict officers from carrying out their duties.
"For cases involving the jurisdiction of other agencies, DBKL will take action within its authority and coordinate enforcement efforts with the relevant agencies.
"Enforcement action is based on the offence committed, not on who operates a particular premise," it said in a statement on Monday (Sept 14).
DBKL said it takes seriously any allegation of misconduct or instructions that could undermine enforcement duties.
It added that those with specific information or evidence may submit it to DBKL for review.
