LATE-NIGHT dim sum is one of Kuala Lumpur's great pleasures, a steaming basket of har gow at 2am is hard to beat.

But diners at one restaurant along Jalan Klang Lama got considerably more than they bargained for when a man began hurling tables around the premises in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Did a man really run amok and throw tables at a dim sum restaurant along Jalan Klang Lama?

Verdict:

TRUE

A foreigner believed to have been intoxicated ran amok at a dim sum restaurant along Jalan Klang Lama in Kuala Lumpur at around 1.56am on Sunday (May 4), flipping and throwing tables and causing damage while terrified customers fled the premises, with a video of the incident subsequently going viral.

Brickfields district police chief Assistant Commissioner Hoo Chang Hook confirmed that the restaurant owner had lodged a police report on May 5 regarding the incident.

"At the time of the incident the suspect started throwing tables around the scene, causing damage.

"The complainant did not dare to stop the suspect out of fear of being injured," he said when contacted.

No injuries were reported, though many customers fled out of fear of being harmed.

The suspect's identity has yet to be ascertained. CCTV footage of the incident has been obtained and efforts to locate and arrest the suspect are actively ongoing.
