QuickCheck: Is the government handing out RM300 in Sara cash aid?

TEXT messages claiming to be from the Finance Ministry have been circulating, informing recipients they will receive a one-off Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) payment of RM300.

The messages state the aid will be credited to Touch 'n Go accounts starting Jan 1 and urges people to click on a link to verify their eligibility.
