A VIRAL TikTok video showing two cyclists on modified bicycles weaving recklessly through traffic has sparked outrage on social media this week.

The footage captured the pair beating a red light at a busy Subang Jaya intersection and nearly colliding with oncoming vehicles that had the right of way.

Did this dangerous incident actually occur?

Police detained two teenagers after a video of them riding basikal lajak (illegally modified bicycles) dangerously at the Putra Heights traffic light junction in Subang Jaya went viral on social media.

"The two boys were arrested in Bukit Lanchong, Shah Alam, on Saturday (Dec 6)," said Subang Jaya police chief ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat.

He said police received a report at 5.13pm on Saturday regarding the viral TikTok video depicting the teenagers' actions.

"Initial investigations found that the incident occurred on Dec 4 at 5.55pm when both teenagers were coming from Persiaran Putra Perdana heading towards Kampung Tengah," he said in a statement on Sunday (Dec 7).

"They were seen riding the bicycles dangerously, beating the red light and nearly crashing into a car that was moving straight on a green light," he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 54(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
