The post also claimed that the tsunami was connected to the flooding in the district in January, which was labelled as one of the worst natural disasters in the area in three decades.
The post also included a video showing the flood in Bintulu and a tsunami warning blaring in the background.

According to MyCheck, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) did not issue a tsunami warning for the Bintulu district during the recent floods.
It also confirmed that the video attached to the social media post was first published in 2022.
Moreover, the siren heard in the video was added from a social media library of stock sound effects.
MetMalaysia also advised the public to visit www.met.gov.my and its official social media channels and download the myCuaca application for the latest and most accurate weather information.
