IMAGINE scrolling through your social media feed and stumbling upon a video of a bear casually roaming around a village.

For the residents of Kampung Paloh in Terengganu, this was apparently no digital prank.

According to a video that went viral recently, "Yogi" was indeed sighted in their neighbourhood.

Could it be true that a bear wandered into Kampung Paloh?

Verdict:

TRUE

According to a report by Sinar Harian, a bear was sighted and recorded on video there.

Anyone with information on the bear is urged to report immediately to the Terengganu Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan).

State Perhilitan director Loo Kean Seong advised people not to disturb the animal if it is encountered anywhere, including urban or residential areas.

"Do not chase or disturb it. Take pictures or videos, and note the location, then report it immediately to Perhilitan so we can take prompt action to rescue the animal," he said when contacted on Monday (July 29).

To ensure a smooth rescue process, Loo requested that informants provide their name, phone number and the address or location where the animal was seen.

"They can also report the location via WhatsApp to enable swift action," he added.

Earlier, a video uploaded on Facebook on Sunday (July 28) afternoon went viral.

Loo confirmed that his department received complaints about the bear and had been investigating the location since Sunday afternoon.
