Is it true that a man assaulted his wife in a Port Dickson hotel after being caught cheating?

VERDICT:

TRUE

Port Dickson OCPD Supt Aidi Sham Mohamed confirmed that a police report had been lodged over the incident and said that a domestic violence probe was being carried out after the 31-second clip went viral.

He said that preliminary investigations showed that the incident happened at around 10am on May 24, while the video went viral on social media on June 19.

"Investigations show that the 37-year-old man and his 38-year-old wife had an argument after he allegedly cheated on her. He then assaulted her and she suffered injuries to her cheeks and body," he said in a statement.

Supt Aidi Sham added that the victim lodged a police report following the incident.

The case, he said, is being investigated under Section 18A of the Domestic Violence Act and Section 323 of the Penal Code for intentionally causing harm.

"We would also like to advise the public not to forward the clip as this could jeopardise police investigations," he added.
