A MACHETE is not something one would normally take on a morning walk.

As such, seeing someone holding such a weapon and walking aimlessly by the roadside – whether in the flesh or through a viral video – is bound to set alarm bells ringing.

So much so that one individual who spotted the 13-second video on Facebook lodged a police report out of concern for public safety.

Did a machete-wielding man really walk around Kampung Morib, Banting as claimed in the video?

Verdict:

TRUE

After the police report was lodged at 9.15am on Friday (March 22), Kuala Langat police tracked down and arrested the man at 11.30am.

However, according to OCPD Supt Ahmad Ridhwan Mohd Nor, the suspect was drunk and had wandered out of the house following a domestic dispute.

He added that the 31-year-old man worked on a farm and had no criminal record.

Supt Ahmad Ridhwan added that the case is being investigated under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 and Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.
