THERE'S road rage and then there's pull-a-gun-on-you road rage. A video that recently went viral on social media shows a tow truck operator facing a more serious kind of anger after he was tasked with repossessing a car in Cheras.

Allegedly, the father of the person from whom the vehicle was being repossessed was not too happy that his daughter's car was going to be towed away, so he decided to pull something out on his own.

Is it true that a disgruntled father warned off a tow truck operator by brandishing a gun?

Verdict:

TRUE

Police are investigating a case where a man chased off a car repossessor by brandishing a gun during an incident in Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, Cheras.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan said the 34-year-old repossessor and his colleague were in the middle of towing the car because of overdue loan instalments at 10.55am on Tuesday (March 19).

"The car was driven by a woman.

"In the midst of it, a man came and prevented the car from being repossessed. He claimed that the repossessor did not show a bank letter or a police report stating the overdue payment.

"The same man also denied that the car, which was driven by his daughter, had overdue loan payments," he said in a statement on Friday (March 22).

After a brief argument, the senior citizen took out a gun and instructed the repossessor and his colleague to leave the area, he said.

"Before leaving, the repossessor managed to record a video of the man holding the gun at the scene," he added.

The repossessor and the senior citizen lodged separate police reports on the incident, ACP Mohd Zaid said.

"We have already taken the statement of the 60-year-old man and seized his gun.

"Checks revealed that the man had a valid licence to own firearms.

"He claimed he only took out the pistol as he was suspicious of the repossessor (who) failed to produce the relevant documents to repossess the car," he said,

The case has been classified under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.

"We urge those with information on the case to contact investigating officer Insp MUhammad Tasnim Mohamed Nor at 014-620 9960 or any nearest police station."
