Recently, a claim was made online that a third wave of flooding in Johor will be caused by dams releasing water to prevent instabilities.

In a statement, the Batu Pahat Irrigation and Drainage Department refuted a claim made in a viral audio recording that alleged that a third wave of flooding will be caused by water being pumped out of dams in the state.
“The release of water from the dams is being done according to standard operating procedures and no water is being pumped out using large pumps as claimed in the viral recording,” it said.
The department said that the public could refer to the publicinfobanjir.water.gov.my website for the latest information on the floods.
