IT was reported that former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra was seen at a market and food court in Penang recently. Is this true?
In fact, both former Thai prime ministers Thaksin Shinawatra and his sister Yingluck Shinawatra were seen at Penang’s Cecil Street market and a food court in Weld Quay on Wednesday (Sept 21).
Locals were excited to spot them at the Cecil Street market, and it was learnt that they both tried the famous pasembur.
Both former premiers were friendly and accommodating to requests from locals who wanted to take photos with them.
According to locals, they were escorted by the police wherever they went.
Thaksin, 73, was Thailand's prime minister from 2001 to 2006.
Yingluck, 55, was the first female prime minister in Thailand when she served from 2011 to 2014.
