BANGKOK: Four soldiers in a teacher-protection team were injured when a bomb hit their military vehicle in Pattani’s Mayo district.
The armoured vehicle was hurled high in the sky, hit an electricity wire and crashed down on the road.
The four soldiers ended up having difficulty breathing and had ringing in their ears, due to the impact and loud explosion.
It was the first day of a new academic year for most schools.
“The bomb was remotely detonated,” a policeman said.
He said the bomb could have contained 20kg to 30kg of explosive.
The hole in the road at the blast site was 1m-deep and 2m-wide. — The Nation/Asia News Network
