Chinese population tops 1.36 billion

Beijing: The Chinese population reached 1.3678 billion at the end of 2014, up 5.21% from one year earlier, according to official data from Statistical Communique on China’s 2014 National Economic and Social Development.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, 7.1 million people were added to the national population in the past year. The data takes into account the total number born, 16.87 million, and offsets it with the dead, 9.77 million.
