PHNOM PENH: Khieu Ponnary, the first wife of the late Khmer Rouge leader Pol Pot, has died at the age of 83 in Pailin, the group's former stronghold in north-western Cambodia.
“She was very old and also suffered from cancer for quite a long time,'' said Khieu Ponnary's nephew, Ieng Vuth, a deputy governor of Pailin.
