HEBRON: Israeli troops with tanks and bulldozers surged into the West Bank city of Hebron yesterday and slapped a curfew on the residents before beginning house-to-house searches, Palestinian security officials said.
Israeli public radio said the operation, which could last several days, came in response to a series of attacks in the Hebron and the surrounding areas which have killed 22 soldiers and Jewish settlers in recent weeks.
