PETALING JAYA: Sunway Group has debuted at No. 26 on the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For South-East Asia 2026 list, becoming the only Malaysian-headquartered company among the 100 organisations recognised across the region.
“While business performance is important, it is ultimately people and values that define the strength and longevity of an organisation," said Sunway Group founder and chairman Tan Sri Sir Dr Jeffrey Cheah.
"We are humbled to be recognised among South-East Asia’s best workplaces. It reaffirms our commitment to building a workplace where people can flourish and do their best work.
“Our journey over the years has been built on trust, guided by our core values of integrity, humility and excellence. These qualities will continue to guide our path as we grow alongside the communities we serve and create opportunities for generations to come,” added Cheah.
Produced by Fortune and Great Place To Work, the ranking draws on confidential feedback from more than 1.32 million employees across 10 South-East Asian countries.
To qualify, companies must be Great Place To Work Certified and employ at least 200 people in the region. Employees assess their workplace through 60 statements and two open-ended questions covering trust, leadership, respect, fairness and pride. Surveys must also meet distribution and response-rate thresholds to ensure a representative sample.
Beyond overall scores, the assessment evaluates how consistently positive experiences are shared across roles, seniority levels and demographic groups. Rankings also take into account regional workforce size and the number of countries in which companies are certified and surveyed.
Sunway's people strategy is anchored in its core values and its "Doing Well by Doing Good" philosophy championed by Cheah.
Across its 13 business divisions, Sunway offers leadership development programmes and opportunities for employees to build experience across functions and industries.
According to Great Place To Work's published profile, 93% of surveyed employees regard Sunway as a great place to work. The group also secured Great Place To Work Certification for a second consecutive year in 2026.
The workplace recognition is one of three Fortune accolades involving Sunway this year. The group climbed 39 places to No.151 on the Fortune Southeast Asia 500 companies.
Earlier, executive deputy chair Datin Paduka Sarena Cheah was also named among Fortune's Most Powerful Women Asia 2026, becoming one of five Malaysians featured on the list of 100 business leaders from across the Asia-Pacific region.
Sunway Group was also named one of Malaysia's Best Managed Companies 2025 by Deloitte, retaining Gold status for a fifth consecutive year.
