SEPANG: the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency's (AKPS) has unveiled an interactive hologram kiosk to assist arriving international passengers at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1.
Unveiled during the agency’s second-anniversary celebration on Monday (Oct 26), the digital assistant is scheduled for deployment at the airport's satellite building.
The agency’s deputy director-general (management) Ismail Mokhtar said the initiative was inspired by a similar hologram system implemented by the Home Ministry at the Setia Perkasa Complex in Putrajaya.
“Just as the Ministry of Home Affairs placed a hologram of the Minister in the lobby of the Setia Perkasa Complex, the agency shares the same vision and mission," Ismail said. "We have created a hologram to be stationed at the KLIA satellite building to provide arriving travellers with information on the entry requirements they must fulfill.”
A live demonstration at the launch showcased a digital avatar of an agency officer capable of answering traveller queries in real time across multiple languages, including English and Mandarin.
