Group moves to save Tamil schools

TAMIL school educators and activists have called for a special task force to coordinate the relocation of 157 Tamil schools at risk of closure, reported Malaysia Nanban.

Coordinator for a group of Tamil education NGOs M. Vetrivelan said RM100mil should be allocated for the relocations, with the fund administered by a special task force under the Prime Minister’s Department.

The government was urged to relocate at least five schools annually, prioritising those with potential to attract more pupils.

> Six people, including five women, in Tamil Nadu were arrested for the murder of a pregnant woman, reported Makkal Osai.

Sathiya, 21, was rushed to a hospital in Pudhukottai where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police treated the death as suspicious and launched an investigation, later finding out that the six had allegedly strangled the victim.

Sathiya had reportedly told her husband about her sisters-in-law’s relationships with other men, leading to a dispute that allegedly prompted the murder plot.
