No formal talks yet between PH, Bersatu for Melaka polls, says Fahmi

PUTRAJAYA: There have been no official discussions on cooperation between Pakatan Harapan and Bersatu for the Melaka state election, says Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil (pic).

The Pakatan communications director said any final decision by the coalition would be made through its Presidential Council.

“So far, there have been no developments (on the cooperation). I have yet to receive any information on the matter,” he said when met by reporters after attending the launch of the Medicine Financing Initiative through Postal Services (UMP) on Tuesday (Sept 29).

It was reported that Pakatan and Bersatu leaders attended a closed-door dinner in Melaka on Monday (Sept 28) night amid speculation over possible cooperation between the two.

Bersatu Melaka information chief Hishamuddin Abdul Karim said the event was merely an informal exchange of views on the Melaka state election.

Pakatan had earlier been reported to be considering a “PH Plus” arrangement without Barisan Nasional for the Melaka polls.

This follows the dissolution of the Melaka Legislative Assembly on Sept 23.

The Election Commission will meet on Oct 7 to decide the key dates for the state election.
