KUALA LUMPUR: Lively performances by male foreign dancers at an entertainment centre in Jalan Klang Lama were abruptly cut short following a surprise raid by enforcement authorities.
Immigration Department director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said the raid, carried out at 12.05am on Saturday, followed a public tip-off and a month-long intelligence operation.
“The entertainment centre, which has been operating since last year, is believed to offer entertainment and dance performances by foreign nationals from the LGBT community, targeting local and foreign customers in the Klang Valley,” he said in a statement yesterday.
He said customers were charged between RM53 and RM700, depending on the drinks ordered and table reservation.
Four men, comprising three Chinese nationals and a Filipino, aged between 21 and 31, were detained in the operation, which was jointly carried out with officers from the National Anti-Drug Agency.
“Initial checks found that they did not have valid travel documents or passes to remain in the country,” he said.
He said all four foreigners were taken to the Putrajaya Immigration office for further investigation under the Immigration Act.
