PETALING JAYA: Several Malaysians have been affected by extensive flooding in Bangkok, Thailand, with the Malaysian Embassy providing assistance to those in need.
The Foreign Ministry said the Embassy of Malaysia in Bangkok was closely monitoring the situation and remained in communication with local authorities following flooding across several districts and major transportation routes.
"The Embassy is providing the necessary support and assistance to those affected, and remains in close communication with local authorities as it continues to monitor the situation," the ministry said in a statement on Sunday (Sept 27).
The ministry also advised Malaysians residing in or visiting Bangkok to exercise caution, remain vigilant and strictly follow all safety directives issued by local authorities.
Malaysians travelling to Suvarnabhumi Airport were advised to allow additional travel time and arrive well ahead of their scheduled departures as access routes could experience delays due to the flooding.
The ministry also urged all Malaysian nationals who had yet to do so to register their presence via e-Konsular.
Malaysians requiring consular assistance, or those with information on other Malaysian nationals who may be in the affected areas, can contact the Embassy of Malaysia in Bangkok or email the embassy directly.
The ministry said further updates would be issued if necessary.
