KOTA KINABALU: A man was found dead amongst trash and electric cables at a water village in Kg Puyut, Lahad Datu, Wednesday (Sept 23) afternoon.
The undocumented man, in his 30s, was found unconscious by villagers at around 12.30pm, believed electrocuted.
Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Department station chief Sumsoa Rashid said they received a call at around 12.47pm and arrived at the scene at 12.55pm.
“When we arrived, we removed the body using a stretcher and a rope after medical officials on scene pronounced him dead,” he said in a statement.
He said the electric supply at the area had already been switched off for safety reasons as Sabah Electricity personnel were also alerted about the incident.
Sumsuoa said the body was later handed over to the police for further action while operations on site ended at 1.36pm after all other hazardous elements had been eliminated.
According to villagers, they do not recognise the man while some claim he might have been running from an earlier anti-crime operation near the area to evade capture.
