KLUANG: Raids on massage centres here led to 25 undocumented migrant workers detained on Tuesday (Sept 15).
Johor Immigration Department director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus said the 7pm operation mainly targeted residential properties offering immoral activities.
“Their modus operandi is offering services via popular digital mobile communication platforms, WeChat and WhatsApp, which are accessible to all,’’ he said in a statement on Thursday.
Mohd Rusdi said six premises were inspected in the operation which ended at 8.30pm – a budget hotel, two houses and three massage centres.
He said based on the information and intelligence gathered, the services in question were believed to be offered to customers at a rate of between RM79 and RM180 per service, paid in cash.
“The use of residential premises as a location to carry out such activities was also detected,’’ he said.
Mohd Rusdi added this directly revealing the tactics used by certain parties attempting to hide their activities from the attention of the authorities.
He said those detained were seven Vietnamese women, three Thai females, three Indonesian women, and eight Myanmar females.
Mohd Rusdi said others were a Vietnamese man, three Indonesian males, a Nepalese man, and a Myanmar man, all detainees aged between 25 and 41 years old.
He said two locals – a woman and a man who were believed to the caretakers of the premises were also detained.
“The illegal foreigners are now being placed at the Setia Tropika Immigration Depot in Johor Baru, to assist with investigation and further action,’’ said Mohd Rusdi.
