KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof returned to attend a Cabinet meeting yesterday after undergoing heart bypass surgery and taking medical leave to recuperate.

In a Facebook post, Fadillah said that on the advice of specialists at the National Heart Institute (IJN), he would remain on medical leave until Sept 27.

“My deepest appreciation and thanks to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and all my Cabinet colleagues for their concern, prayers and support throughout my treatment.

“I am very grateful and happy to be back with my Cabinet colleagues at today’s meeting,” he said, Bernama reported.

Fadillah, who is also the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister, said that during his medical leave, he would only attend Cabinet meetings in person.

“May we all be blessed with good health and lasting well-being and be able to carry out the responsibilities entrusted to us to the best of our ability,” he said.

The Petra Jaya MP underwent heart bypass surgery at IJN on Aug 12 after being admitted to the institute on July 28.

He underwent a coronary angiogram the following day.
