KUALA LUMPUR: A former minister who was remanded to assist investigations into issues raised in the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji, has been released on Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) bail.
The man, in his 60s, was released on Tuesday (Sept 8) upon the expiration of his remand.
MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed the matter, saying the former minister had been released on MACC bail.
The former minister was initially remanded for five days before the remand was extended by two days until Tuesday.
The investigation is linked to issues highlighted in the RCI report concerning the management and operations of Tabung Haji.
The former minister was previously detained after he turned up at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya to have his statement recorded in connection with the investigation.
The investigation is understood to include matters involving Tabung Haji's hotel lease in Saudi Arabia.
