THE Persekutuan Pertubuhan India Muslim Malaysia (Permim) urged Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to appoint a special representative for the community, Malaysia Nanban reported.

Association president Mohamed Azman Shah Mohd Shahul Hameed raised the matter during a meeting to discuss issues faced by the Indian Muslim community, attended by Anwar.

During the meeting at Perdana Putra, matters related to the Indian Muslim community such as the current demographics, future development and social welfare were discussed at length, said Azman Shah and Permim secretary-general Adam Malik.

Permim also proposed appointing a dedicated coordinator in the Prime Minister’s Office.

The issues raised received serious attention from the Prime Minister, it said.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan and Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil were also present during the meeting.
