KUANTAN: A delivery rider pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate’s Court here to six charges of cheating by using fake QR code payment transaction displays to purchase various items.
According to the charges, Mohammad Ruzaini Ruzi deceived two individuals by showing QR code payments for amounts ranging from RM36.40 to RM67.20 that did not tally with the actual transactions for the purchase of cigarettes, food and beverages.
He allegedly committed the offences at a petrol station here between Jan 19 and Feb 3, involving the purchase of items totalling RM356.50, Bernama reported.
He was charged under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of between one and 10 years, as well as whipping and a fine, upon conviction.
Magistrate Ellyna Othman granted bail at RM12,000 for all six charges and set Sept 25 for mention.
