PUTRAJAYA: Suspects linked to investigations arising from the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Tabung Haji will be charged in court on Thursday (Sept 3) and Friday, says the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed the matter at a press conference at the commission’s headquarters here on Wednesday.
“Two investigation papers have been forwarded for prosecution. The charges will be brought tomorrow and the day after.
“The individuals concerned have also been informed,” he said.
Abd Halim said a third investigation paper had been submitted to the Attorney General’s Chambers and was also expected to lead to charges in the near future.
He said the third investigation paper involved an investment in Al-Rawdah Real Estate Development and Project Management worth 2.49bil Saudi riyal (about RM2.68bil).
“It is just a matter of time for that investigation paper,” he said.
Abd Halim said MACC had made 17 arrests during the investigations, with 10 suspects remanded.
Statements were also recorded from about 245 people, while 60 premises were searched.
He added that four investigation papers had been classified as requiring no further action.
“No bank accounts have been seized or frozen. The premises were searched only for documents related to the investigations,” he said.
