IPOH: A wireman walked free on Thursday (Aug 27) after the Sessions Court here acquitted him of a charge for growing cannabis at his home in Taman Dato Leow Yan Sip here three years ago.
Judge Meor Sulaiman Ahmad Tarmizi said Aszizi Ayub, 37, was acquitted and released after the prosecution failed to prove a prima facie case against him.
Aszizi was arrested by the police and charged under Section 6B(1)(c) of the Dangerous Drugs Act in August 2023.
He was accused of allowing to grow the plant, which weighs about 253g, in a black plastic bag at the house on July 31, 2023.
Aszizi was represented by Keshvinder Singh, Sukhdave Singh and Renver Singh while Deputy Public Prosecutor SS Pavitra prosecuted.
