Complete school bullying probe, ministry orders

KUALA LUMPUR: The Schools Inspectorate, district education office and Kuala Lumpur Education Department have been directed to complete an internal investigation into alleged bullying and discrimination at a school here.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek (pic), who revealed this, said matters of public concern, including those related to bullying and racial elements, must be taken seriously and addressed promptly based on facts and due process.

“My thoughts and sympathies remain with the family and the school community following the recent passing of a student in Kuala Lumpur.

“The ministry is extending full cooperation to the police and working closely with the Social Welfare Department and Health Ministry to ensure that this matter is thoroughly addressed,” she said in a Facebook post yesterday, Bernama reported.

“The ministry’s Smart Support Team has also been mobilised to provide psychosocial support and crisis intervention to affected students to safeguard their welfare and emotional well-being.

“Our priority is to ensure justice for all parties and to take appropriate measures to ensure that the educational environment remains safe and free from any form of bullying and discrimination,” she said.
