King also calls for in-depth investigation into TH case
KUALA LUMPUR: Relevant ministries and agencies must tighten security controls and implement enhanced measures at all of the country’s airports and entry points, decrees His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.
The King said the measures were important to curb drug smuggling and prevent cross-border criminal activities that could threaten public safety and order.
“Security at the country’s entry points must always be strengthened through effective enforcement, continuous monitoring and close cooperation among all relevant agencies,” he said in a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s Facebook page, Bernama reported.
His Majesty has also decreed for investigations into the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) to be carried out exhaustively.
The King said it is important that all parties responsible are appropriately dealt with and to ensure that the same thing does not happen again in the future.
Sultan Ibrahim also said investigations into the matter should be carried out comprehensively, without compromising on any party found guilty.
“No one should escape action if they are truly found guilty. Most importantly, things like this must not happen again,” said His Majesty.
Earlier, Sultan Ibrahim granted an audience to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at Istana Bukit Tunku.
The King was briefed by the Prime Minister on the contents of the RCI report, as well as current issues involving the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda).
On July 31, the Prime Minister said a special parliamentary sitting to debate the findings of the RCI report will be held on Aug 11.
The special sitting follows a Cabinet decision to declassify the report and allow enforcement agencies to conduct further investigations based on their findings.
